About Us
We are located at 100 Hawkwood Boulevard NW, Calgary, AB, T3G 2S9.
- Our first celebration was on May 9, 1976, when we opened our door for worship at H.D. Cartwright School.
- In 1977, St. Thomas was officially recognized as a United Church congregation. On March 27, 1988, Palm Sunday, we held the first service in our new sanctuary in Hawkwood.
- We dedicated our building on June 19, 1988
At St. Thomas we believe that worship meets people where they are. Our style is fairly relaxed and easy going, yet organized. Some people like to dress up, while others don’t. It’s suits to jeans here at St. Thomas and all are acceptable. We love to share great music and to sing. At any given worship there will be classic hymns, modern worship music, large choir music, small vocal ensembles, orchestra music, piano, and organ. From Bach to The Beatles we see faith being expressed in all kinds of music. We project everything that is needed to participate in worship. On the screen you’ll find announcements before worship, words for prayers, lyrics for music, video clips, and quotes as part of the weekly Message. Worship tends to be about 60 minutes and we gather for refreshments after the service when everyone is invited and welcome to stay and get to know one another.
