Planning Team

On May 30, 2026 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, members of the St. Thomas community met. It was a time for the congregation to gather, honour and acknowledge our past, and share ideas for the future. Where will St. Thomas be in 10 years? How do we make our church relevant? What can we do? Who do we engage from the community?
ALL WERE INVITED AND WELCOME – the more voices, the better future we can plan.
Lunch was included.
The event was facilitated by Reverend Scott Reynolds. Scott is the Growth Animator for Chinook Winds Region and Pacific Mountain Region. Part of his role is to help congregations discern how to best share the message of Jesus and live out Christ’s call to love God and love their neighbours.
The schedule for the day was as follows
9:00-9:20 am: Grounding in Worship
9:20-10:00 am: Sharing about God’s Presence at St. Thomas UC
10:00-10:30 am: Toward 2035 and Stories of Deep Spirituality; Bold Discipleship; Daring Justice

After opening worship, participants shared where they saw God’s presence at St. Thomas. Scott talked about the United Church wide initiative called Toward 2035. For more information on this initiative see Toward 2035: Envisioning the Future of the United Church | The United Church of Canada
We shared our hope for St. Thomas.
We chose 7 topics to talk about in small groups. Each person had the opportunity to participate in discussion of 3 of the topics.
As a result of the discussions, priorities for St. Thomas were determined for the next few years.
